Rippin' Riders Review:
Dynastar Speed Skis, Lange L Team Boots and Look Bindings
By Keara, age six, from Mahwah N.J.
She may be from N.J., but Keara gets out on snow a lot! Keara skis every weekend and on all school holidays.
The Dynastar skis hang on in all types of snow conditions and terrain. Keara has skied the steeps, the flats, the bumps and the ice. They carve and turn well and are fast. Keara says they move with her and she likes to move! "My Dynastar's are really fun to ski on," says Keara. "They make me go fast and that's really cool. I love to ski with my class on them and to race on them too. I like to win trophies at my races. Some of my friends have Dynastars too. We ski everywhere on the mountain and the skis are good in all kinds of snow and ice."
The Lange L boots are working out well. They are an overlap boot and give her the performance she's looking for whether she's racing or cruising. They are pretty easy to get on. She can get into them by herself but needs a little help with the buckles. After the first couple of days break in, we haven't had any boot complaints. Her feet are warm, dry and comfortable. Keara says, "These boots are good on my feet. They don't hurt and I can get in and out of them by myself."
The Look bindings are great. They function well and are easy for her to get in and out of by herself. Keara skis weekly with a coach at Bellearye (NY) and it's important for her to have equipment that she can function with independently. These bindings really get the job done. Her coach/instructor doesn't have to help her at all. Hooray Look!!!
Another plus with the gear is that it's light enough for Keara to carry on her own. She can put her skis on her should and go. That's a big help getting to and from the lodge and the parking lot at the beginning and end of the day.
How are they made?
From a quality standpoint, everything seems to be made very well. No complaints.
Where do you use the product?
We ski primarily in the Catskill Mountain region of NY at Belleayre Mountain and take side excursions to other area mountains for racing events and family fun. Belleayre has all types of terrain and weather conditions. This season we have seen some tough conditions, including lots of ice. These Dynastars have performed exceptionally well on the ice. Keara spent some time in race camp last week racing both slalom and GS. She turned in some great times and really likes her gear.
Everyone is feeling very patriotic around here. The red and white ski, and blue boots were a big hit. Keara says she's skiing on American Flag colors and she really likes it. Other kids have noticed it too. Her gear looks fast and goes fast too. Her little friends have all commented on how fast she looks and goes on her new "stuff".
So far, everything has been great. Keara is skiing well and skiing this equipment well.
The tops of the skis are scratched a bit from lift lines and the like but this hasn't affected their performance, nor is it terribly noticeable.
Look for Keara in the NASTAR finals. We bet those Dynastars rip!
