Arrive Early!
By Tammie Thompson
The old adage, "the early bird gets the worm" is no joke when it comes to getting the most out of your snow adventure.
Whether you are spending big bucks for lift tickets, or seeking pristine snow, getting to the slopes early is crucial. Here are a few ideas to get you rolling.
Pack up the night before. Get skis, boots, backpacks all ready and by the door. (Don't put in the car as they will be cold).
Grab a quick snack for the drive. Plan on eating breakfast at the resort. (Oranges, granola bars, beef jerky, hard boiled eggs).
Rent skis or snowboards ahead. (At your local ski shop at home, online or even the night before at the resort).
If possible, make ski school and day care reservations ahead.
Plan on arriving a half hour before lifts open (most resort lifts open at 8:30am).
And the benefit? Your family will arrive relaxed, with less stress and happy to hit the slopes. You will be sure to get that coveted ski school instructor, last day care spot, prime parking space and perfect locker. And most important - you'll get first tracks whether in the fluff or on the corduroy.
