Something New in the Air

What's that? It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's a West Wind helicopter landing at Boreal! That's right, starting now, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays Boreal (Donner Summit, CA) is playing host to West Wind helicopters, a charter company offering helicopter rides around the Boreal/Donner Summit area.

West Wind Helicopters will provide 10 minute rides around Donner Summit, Mt. Judah and the Donner Lake area for a breathtaking view of the summit, the mountain, the snow and the beauty of the area. There is not better view of the Sierra Nevada mountain range than from this Bell 206B3 Jet Ranger helicopter. The rides are offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (weather permitting) and are only $35. The helicopter takes off and lands in the Boreal parking lot on its own heli-pad located between 49er chairlift and Playland Sledding Park.

"We are excited to have this partnership with West Wind Helicopters," comments Mike Hinrichs, General Manager of Boreal Mountain Resort. "They offer a great experience for our customers and we offer a perfect place to operate the helicopter."

The helicopter is able to seat 4 per ride (weight may vary available seats) and tickets can be purchased at Boreal Special Tickets, or at the heli-pad site. Special charter tours are available upon request and are approximately $700 per hour, minimum 30 minutes required.
