Kids Programs: Vermont Offers a Variety of Programs for All Ages (2006/07)
From Childcare to Ski School to Specific Teen Activities
Vermont resorts offer programs for children that make learning to ski or ride fun and safe. Kids go from their first turns to champions of the sport in the blink of an eye - all it takes is great instructors, age appropriate programs and kid friendly terrain.
ASCUTNEY MOUNTAIN RESORT Ducklings Childcare: Children six months and older can participate in games, arts and crafts, and other activities in an atmosphere of fun and discovery. Half day or full day options available.
Cheddar's Happy Hour: Every Saturday during the winter, children ages 4-12 play games, color, have their faces painted, "pig-out" on pizza, and enjoy dancing to DJ music with the Ascutney characters, Cheddar, Blizzy, and Rocky. Then they can wind down with a children's movie.
Alpine Cinema: Playing up-to-date family movies every Saturday night and select dates during holiday periods.
Bumps Teen Center: This is an exclusive club for teens only, featuring state-of-the-art video games, billiards, and all the right music. Open nightly, with live DJ every Saturday and select mid-week dates during holiday periods.
Sidewinders Arcade & Game Room: Offering all your favorites from pinball to electronic games.
BROMLEY MOUNTAIN Mighty Mites Club: Daycare for little ones at one of the first daycare facilities at a ski area in the U.S. Children get lots of love and care, along with arts and crafts, on and off the snow playtime, lunch and snacks in our licensed daycare center. This pass has unlimited use for the season.
Mighty Moose: This season-long program is for children 3 to 5 years old of all levels of ability. Mighty Moose members enjoy morning and afternoon sessions with our kid-focused specialists. Indoor time is spent in a warm and friendly environment. Not only will your children have a great deal of quality time on skis, but they will enjoy seeing familiar friends and faces. This pass has unlimited use for the season.
JETS: The premier on-mountain program for kids ages 6-17, this program meets weekends and holiday periods. JETS members ski and snowboard with the same group and coach for two-hour periods both morning and afternoon. This program is a great way for young skiers and snowboarders to get the attention needed to improve and enjoy their time on the mountain.
BURKE MOUNTAIN SKI AREA Teen Freestyle/Freeride Sessions: NEW! The new Teen Freestyle/Freeride sessions will provide a fast paced, exciting adventure through our terrain parks, glades and groomers for young adults wanting to break away from mom and dad.
Bear Chasers and Shredders: This program gives your child a safe and fun environment to ski/ride, emphasizing the fundamentals of safe skiing and riding with levels from beginner to advanced.
Bear Cubs: For the young skier and rider starting their careers, this program starts the first steps to skiing and daycare.
JAY PEAK RESORT Learning Center: Jay Peak offers several different programs for kids of all ages and abilities. Jay's approach to teaching younger kids (10 & under) is to create a safe, nurturing environment where they have A LOT of fun. Young kids don't have a lot of patience for detailed explanations on 'balance', 'edging', and 'pressure control' so they learn using skill developing games. Jay Peak's Learning Center is a one-stop-shop for lessons, tickets and rentals for kids 10 & under and our indoor facilities, conveniently located just steps from the beginner area, makes getting the kids ready to hit the slopes a whole lot easier.
Mountain Adventures: Kids 10 & up are ready to start putting their skills to the test and we help them do that by letting them explore the mountain in a safe, supervised way as part of our Mountain Adventures program. Kids in this program not only get ski and snowboarding instruction but they also have the option to catch "first tracks," try telemark skiing, and apprentice under Jay's instructors.
KILLINGTON RESORT Friendly Penguin Daycare: (12 weeks to 6 years)
Indoor and optional outdoor activities at either The Ramshead Family Center or the Grand Hotel.
First tracks: (Ages 2-3) This program combines the Friendly Penguin daycare with outdoor on-snow sessions designed to introduce children to skiing or other outdoor activities.
Mini Stars/Lowriders: (Ages 4-6) An innovative program that teaches your children to enjoy the sports of skiing and snowboarding in a safe, fun and educational environment.
Snowzone: (Ages 13-18) This unique program offers lessons for young adults ages 13-18 on skiing and snowboarding.
Superstars: (Ages 7-12) Skiing or snowboarding lessons far all ability levels, while Camp Freeride provides upper level skiers and riders lesson time with our best free ride pros in terrain parks.
MAD RIVER GLEN MRG Offers 1st Kids Telemark Program: The Telemark scene at Mad River Glen has matured and the faithful have gone forth and multiplied. Now their offspring are ready to free their heels and Mad River Glen has responded. Once again this season the Mad River Glen Tele-Team will be a part of our seasonal Ski School Programs. Each weekend throughout the season kids who want to learn to rip it up with other Telemarkers will have their chance to do so under the tutelage of Mad River's fine Telemark coaches. This is the first organized kids Telemark program in New England. Mad River Glen is also one of the few ski areas in the nation that offers Telemark equipment rentals for kids aged 5 and up.
MOUNT SNOW RESORT Cub Camp, a half-day program for three-year-olds, includes a morning or afternoon outside on the slopes learning the basics of skiing. A short magic carpet and terrain garden with hoops and obstacles makes learning fun.
Mount Snow offers skiing programs for youngsters starting at age three, and snowboard programs for kids starting at age seven. Programs are based out of Mount Snow's Discovery Center, with its own children's rental shop. Reservations are required for all programs and may be made on-line at www.mountsnow.com or by calling 1-800-889-4411.
Snow Camp, for four- to six-year-olds, is offered in half- and full-day sessions. Groups ski together, take breaks together and have fun together. The cost is $97 for a full day (including lunch and snacks) and $67 for a half-day.
Mountain Camp and Mountain Riders, improves the skiing and snowboarding skills of kids seven to 14 years old. Beginners stay on the lower mountain, while advanced skiers and riders tackle the entire mountain. The program is offered in half-day and full-day sessions. The cost is $83 for a full day (including lunch and snacks) and $48 for a half-day.
OKEMO MOUNTAIN RESORT
Cutting Edge Learning Center: Okemo's award-winning Cutting Edge Learning Center children's programs provide fun, exciting and valuable learning experiences for kids and they allow parents to enjoy themselves, knowing that their children are being taught and supervised by friendly, qualified staff. Children as young as three-years old can learn the basics with Okemo's Mini Stars program. Toddlers are taught by professional Okemo instructors in a two-hour morning workshop or a one-hour afternoon session. Mini Stars lessons are available as an add-on to their Penguin Day Care reservation, or a-la-carte as a two-hour morning lesson. Okemo's Snow Star Skiers program (ages 4-7) and Snow star Riders program (ages 5-7) is the perfect base to build upon and ideal for kids of all ability levels. Children learn control and refine their skills and move on to more advanced terrain in fun and exciting lessons, taught by instructors who really understand how kids learn. Bigger kids have their own programs too: Young Mountain Explorers and Young Riders, for ages 7-14.

SMUGGLERS' NOTCH RESORT

Discovery Dynamos Ski Camp: 3-5 year olds experience the all-day Discovery Dynamos Ski Camp.
Dynamos Ski or Snowboard Camp: 4-6 year olds experience the Discovery Dynamos Ski or Snowboard Camp.
Group, Private Lessons or Camps: Group, private lessons or camps available for those six and older: 6-10 year-olds have Adventure Rangers Ski & Snowboard Camp; 11-15 year olds Notch Squad; and 16 &17 year olds join the Explorer Program.
Jibs & Jumps Ski & Snowboard Camp: This camp is for kids 6-15 who want to learn from professionals how to really play in the park.
STOWE MOUNTAIN RESORT Full Day Mountain Adventure is an all day program for kids age 4-12 (7-12 snowboarding)
The Big Easy is a two-hour semi private program for kids 4-12, all disciplines. Class ratio 3:1
Three-Ski is a two-hour skiing program for 3 year olds at levels 1 & 2. Class ratio 3:1
Cubs Adventure is an all day ski & daycare program for 3 year olds.
Holiday Adventure: Ages 11-14, Skiing and Snowboarding.
Advanced skiers and riders will explore cruisers, glades, bumps, park, pipe, and steeps! Full days of fun and coaching, lift access and lunch on the mountain. Holiday periods only.
Private Lessons: Private lessons are available daily for all ages and abilities. Sign up alone or with friends and family members. Durations from one hour to all day are available. Call 802-253-3000.
STRATTON MOUNTAIN RESORT
Big mountain skiing and riding, slopeside Village, six terrain parks, snow school and childcare programs (for as young as six weeks), and scores of activities provide the start of a great family vacation.
Stratton offers full-day ski and snowboard instruction for ages 4 and older. Stratton is home of the Burton Kids Method Center, where the youngest snowboarders are introduced to the sport through the innovative Learn-to-Ride system. Activities and events include wildlife workshops, the Poppy Town Puppets performing in the Base Lodge, Mini-Z snowmobiles for children, snowtubing and a new center for teen activities and entertainment plus Kids Night Out for ages 4-12 with outdoor activities.
SUGARBUSH RESORT Mini Bear Adventure Camp: Mini Bears asked for an adventure program of their own and they got it! Tailored to meet a Mini Bear definition of adventure, this program for kids 4-6 is all about being outside in the winter and having fun. The Mini Bear Adventure Camp starts with a morning of skiing, just like a regular Mini Bear day. But, rather than going back out skiing in the afternoon, these campers take off on snowshoes for an afternoon of hiking, building snow forts and shelters, scavenger hunts, tree identification, animal tracking, and more. A great alternative for any Mini Bear that needs a break from skiing all day or whose sense of adventure goes beyond the ski trail.
