Insider's Tip: Carry a Whistle
By Tammie Thompson
O.K., this tip is about as simple as they come. I stopped in at the Mighty Mite lunchroom the other day and a gaggle of girls were hanging out. They all had their season passes around their necks, along with cookie passes and chapstick.
One girl's tangle of necklaces caught my attention. She had a plastic whistle hanging from her pass. What a great idea! With all the snow we've had it doesn't take much to get stuck in a drift or tree well or to lose a ski. Hence the whistle.
If your child does carry a whistle they should be told not to blow on it unless it is an emergency. A series of blows should attract attention to the child.
Whistles are available at sporting good and toy stores.
