TIP: Helmet Hint
Decorate kid's helmets for better identification from afar
by Sandra Williams of Cumberland, ME
In Maine it seems like all the kids have black helmets and more than our fair share has red coats for the little guys (LL Bean country you know!).
We tie a fun item on the back of the helmet where the clip for the goggles is. It's fun for the kids to pick something out and if we get separated, it's easy to identify them. We try to pick a theme if it's a group of kids - Disney characters, blinking clip on lights, etc.
Curled ribbons work well - and the girls love those, especially on race days.
Beware handing ribbon, string, etc. Make sure it is short and does not interfere with vision or chairlift operation (gets caught in mechanism).
