TIP: Saving Money - Free Vouchers at Ski Movies
This tip came in from Kathleen Hidalgo of Hughson, CA
Every fall local theaters promote ski and snowboard movies. From ski country to urban areas, the sure way to get fired up for the season is to take in a winter flick.
For years Warren Miller's ski film comes to a small theatre in our town. A local charity group sells tickets to the movie for $12 each (tax write off). When you go to the movie each person receives a ski voucher to a local ski resort. We usually go to the movie at least twice or I take a bunch of neighborhood kids who don't ski (and keep their ski vouchers). When it comes time to go skiing I use the $12 ski vouchers for me, my husband and adult son and buy my two younger sons (9 & 12) tickets at the resort which usually run
$10 - 12. This saves us a great deal of money and allows us to be able to ski a lot more each year, plus it's a tax write off and the proceeds go to a good charity. Everyone wins!
